In general it is not a good idea to have 2 antivirus running on the same device, can cause conflicts. No idea about phones, but a good antivirus, and an occasional scan with the likes of malawarebytes etc is what i do on the computer, i use Norton, and have noticed there's a mobile version, it costs, but covers 3 devices (it may cover 4 now)

I have had AVG for around 3-4 years and pay for it on a yearly subscription and it's great for me on the two Laptops we have.

For most people, you don't need an antivirus on a phone. You're usually fine unless you have torrenting apps, or get apps from somewhere other than the Google Play or iTunes/App Store. It's generally not good to have two or more antivirus apps.

Also, users are still careless in their online activities.

I just pay the yearly subscription when it's due and that's it. Sometimes they will send me an e-mail with new deals if I want them but I just ignore them as not interested and happy with what I have. Funny enough the AVG icon popped up about 10 minutes ago telling me they had found 2 possible viruses and they have corrected them and removed them, that's why I like AVG.

The problem with antivirus programs (on computers and mobile devices) is that they are able to significantly slow down the most powerful configuration of any device. And it has always been the biggest problem that people often are not aware of.

I don't use one on my phone mainly because I don't need one.

I use Microsoft Security Essentials on my Windows PC and in terms of processing power it's the least intrusive anti-virus I've ever had. I haven't had any virus problems since I started using it years ago, but I suppose it all comes down to how much RAM your computer has.

It's okay. When I talk about all these things I still think about the average user who is often not able to exert complete control over the software that is installed.
And I speak from many years of experience as a programmer and as someone who solves certain things on a daily basis.
People rightly expect to get a quality device (and software) for their money. But (software) developers have become lazy in some basic things..

The only time that i experienced a slow down on my computer because of my antivirus was probably when i used Norton 360 in 2006. That was on a Pentium 4 desktop, after that i have had no issues since then. Microsoft Security Essentials is extremely lightweight.

Forumero , I want to thank you for these links. I installed the app on both my tablet and smart phone and love it. It actually picked up a privacy issue that my other security program didn't. It's quick and clean.
